Patients with respiratory issues and asthma are suffering as the oxygen plant at the District Hospital, Bajura remains unrepaired for two months. The lack of maintenance after the oxygen plant machine broke down has caused problems for the patients. The breakdown of the oxygen plant has caused a shortage of oxygen cylinders at the District Hospital in Bajura, said Information Officer Nrupraj Giri. Subsequently, the patients are being referred to Bayalpata Hospital in Achham and hospitals in Dhangadhi.

Kanti Rawal, a resident of Badimalika Municipality-8, is a patient with asthma. She requires oxygen regularly, but due to the breakdown of the oxygen plant at the District Hospital in Bajura for the past two months, she has been forced to seek treatment at Bayalpata in Achham. She said, “I am forced to take oxygen every week. After the problem with the oxygen plant at the District Hospital, I have had to endure a lot of hardship. I have to go to the District Hospital in Achham. Due to financial constraints, I am unable to receive regular treatment, and my health has become more complicated.”

Information Officer Nrupraj Giri of the District Hospital stated that the machine, which broke down two months ago, was briefly operational after repairs, but has since malfunctioned again. Currently, there is a shortage of oxygen at the hospital, and since the machine’s parts are not available in Nepal, they had to be imported from China, causing a delay in the repairs. He further added that the oxygen shortage has led patients with respiratory issues and asthma who are admitted for treatment to have to be referred to other hospitals, causing them further difficulties.
