Tree Plantation on the Occasion of Prakash Memorial Day
On the occasion of Prakash Kafle’s Memorial Day, the founder and secretary-general of INSEC, a tree plantation program was conducted at Thai Park, Kakani, Ward No. 5, Kakani Municipality on the August 1, 2023.
On the 31st memorial day, 31 fruit trees were planted. The Chairperson of Kakani Rural Municipality, Suman Tamang, Ward Chairperson of Kakani Rural Municipality-5, Buddhraj Tamang, INSEC Chairperson Dr. Kundan Aryal, Founder Chairperson of INSEC Sushil Pyakurel, and Executive Director of INSEC, BijayRaj Gautam, participated in the tree planting event. Various fruit trees like walnut, Wild Himalayan cherry and chestnut were planted at the Thai Air Smriti Park premises, as informed by Ward Chairman Buddhraj Tamang.
INSEC’s Chairperson, Dr. Kundan Aryal, explained the significance of tree planting in environmental conservation, emphasizing the strong relationship between trees and humans.
Thai Air Memorial Park has been constructed in Kakani Rural Municipality-5, Kakani in memory of those who died in the Thai Air crash on July 31, 1992 in Dupcheswar Rural Municipality-1, Gyangphedi. A tree planting program was held in memory of INSEC founder general secretary Prakash Kafle who died in the same accident.
The program was jointly organized by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) in collaboration with the Armed Police Force UN Training School Kakani, coordination from the Shivpuri Nagarjuna National Park Area Management Committee, and facilitation from Kakani Rural Municipality.
