Trafficking Accused Arrested
Sukman Tamang, 36, of Ghyangphedi in Dupcheshwor Rural Municipality-1 has been arrested by the police on September 29 after he was found guilty of trafficking a 37-year-old woman to India on March 20, 2008.
According to Bishnu Phuyal, Inspector at the District Police Office, the accused was arrested from Kathmandu Gokarneshwor Municipality-5 and presented before the District Court on September 29, 2020.
The victim was rescued on July 9, 2013 and brought back to Nepal. A case was registered in the court on October 31, 2015. The district court of Nuwakot had convicted Tamang in the case of human trafficking and smuggling and sentenced him to 30 years and 5 months and 28 days imprisonment and fined him Rs. 250,000.
