Three Years Imprisonment For Sexual Abuse of Minor
The District Court has pronounced a sentence of three years of imprisonment upon Suryakumar Kandangwa, a 37-year-old resident of Atharai Rural Municipality-6, for the crime of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl.
On July 10, 2023, District Court Judge Pramesh Pokharel, presiding over the case, found the accused guilty and issued an order requiring the offender to serve imprisonment, pay a fine of Rs. 30,000, and provide compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the victim.
On February 3, 2023, the victim lodged a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office, alleging that the incident of sexual abuse occurred on February 2. Acting upon the victim’s complaint, the police promptly apprehended the accused at his residence on February 3. Subsequently, on February 23, the public prosecutor’s office filed a case of rape with the district court based on the victim’s complaint.
As per the order dated February 23, issued by District Court Judge Pramesh Pokharel, the accused remained in custody pending trial. Furthermore, on February 3, a comprehensive health examination of the victim was conducted at the district hospital.
