Three Accused of Beating Former MP Arrested

Police arrested Aryan Choudhary, 32, Siddhanta Choudhary, 29, of Haripur Municipality-6, and 27-year-old Saroj Majhi of Haripur Municipality-2 on April 14 for beating 43-year-old Pramod Shah of Malangwa Municipality-6, Khutouna, the leader of the People’s Socialist Party and former Member of Parliament on April 13.

DSP Deepak Shrestha of the District Police Office Malangwa informed that a case has been registered against the arrested and further action is being taken. In addition, the search for other four accused who are currently absconding is ongoing.

The incident took place after Rajendra Mahato, 46, a worker at Shah’s was beaten by youths under the influence of alcohol in Haripur market while he was returning home after watering the maize crops. He was assaulted on the pretext of parking his motorcycle. Subsequently, when he informed former MP Shah about the incident, Shah arrived at the scene and the youths assaulted him as well.

DP Shrestha informed that Shah along with his other workers Rajendra Mahato,46, Ravi Paswan, 37, and Nikesh Shah, 34, were injured in the beating. They were immediately taken to Ishwarpur Amrit Health Care for treatment.

SP Ravindra Bahadur Singh of District Police Office Malangwa informed  that Shah was seriously injured and was taken to Janakpur Provincial Hospital for treatment on April 14. He was later taken to Bir Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment on the same day.
