Targeted Community victimized due to the lacking on distributing Social Security Allowance

The targeted communities are victimized due to the government’s lacking on distribution of first quarterly social security allowance.

They have been victimized after 25 VDC’s secretary did not distribute the allowances to the community.

The District Development Committee has already authorized the fund for the fiscal year 2016/17 however the targeted communities could not get the allowances due to the negligence from the VDC secretary. This has victimized senior citizens, single women and disabled people more severely.

“Because of the negligence from VDC secretary, we could not get any allowances till now”, says 88 years old senior citizen Lal Sara Singh of Dandaphaya VDC.

In 27 VDCs of Humla District, 7,782 people are liable for social security allowances including 4,447 senior citizens, 734 single women and 70 disabled people according to information officer Mamata Mahat of District Development Committee.

It is a legal provision to distribute social security allowances within 35 days after receiving authority from District Development Committee.

Local Development Office Bal Dev Prasad Joshi said that it is VDC secretary’s negligence. He added that action can be taken to those secretary if it is not distributed on time.
