Students Face Challenges in Half-yearly Examinations Due to Extreme Cold

Due to the extreme cold affecting daily life in the district, conducting half-yearly exams for school students in Khadachakra Municipality has become challenging. The cold weather has disrupted the operation of government schools, forcing the exams to be conducted on open grounds during sunny days.

The district’s temperature has dropped to 2 degrees Celsius, making it difficult for students to attend and stay in classrooms. Chhatra Bahadur Shahi, the principal of Janjyoti Secondary School in Khadachakra Municipality-9, stated that exams are being conducted in fields on sunny days due to the cold conditions inside classrooms. Likewise, Chulimalika Secondary School in Khadachakra Municipality-5 has also started conducting exams in the open field, as holding exams inside the building posed a risk of students falling ill due to the cold, stated teacher Dilli Prasad Chaulagain.

He stated that since students are required to wear uniforms for the exams being conducted from December 22 in Khadachakra Municipality, the exams were shifted to the open field following suggestions from everyone concerned about students falling ill. In Tilagufa Municipality, all schools are conducting both classes and exams in open fields. Sanam Shahi, the principal of Satyadevi Secondary School, mentioned that lessons were also moved to open fields as the cold intensified from the mid of November.
