Six Months Imprisonment for Crime of Attempted Rape
The District Court sentenced 19-year-old Fatta Bahadur Tamang of Rasuwa District Uttargaya Rural Municipality-2 to six months of imprisonment for attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl.
Registrar Khem Kumari Basnet of the District court said that the bench of Shubash Babu Puri sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 3000 on April 18.
Advocate Rajaram Thapaliya, the outgoing Chairperson of Nuwakot District Court Bar Unit stated that despite the public prosecutor demanded for a charge of attempted rape, the district court verdict was changed to sexual abuse.
A complaint was filed at the District Police Office on March 22, 2023 alleging that the victim was attempted to be raped by the accused on March 16 while returning home from school. Later, Tamang was ordered to be released on a bond of Rs 50,000 by the District Court ordered on April 5.
The health examination of the victim was done on March 22 at Trishuli Hospital.
