Seven Years Imprisonment for Rape
The District Court has sentenced Mohan Jung Rai, 30 years old from Laligurans Municipality-4, to seven years of imprisonment for the crime of raping a 26-year-old woman.
Paras Mani Pokharel, registrar of the court, communicated to INSEC’s representative that District court judge Pramesh Pokharel’s bench on July 16 2023 declared the accused guilty and sentenced him to imprisonment along with a fine of NPR 3,00,000.
The victim filed a complaint against the accused in the district police office on July 28, alleging that the accused had raped the victim on July 27, 2022.
Based on the complaint of the victim, the police arrested the accused from his home on July 28, 2022 and a case was registered in the district court on August 6, through the public prosecutor’s office.
As per the order of District Court Judge, Pramesh Pokharel, the accused was kept in custody on August 22.
The victim underwent a medical examination on July 28, 2022 at the district hospital.
