Seven Years Imprisonment For Rape
Bench of District Judge Lalkaji Shrestha Bharat Sonar, 45 of Tirhut Rural Municipality-1 has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment on 5 April 2023 for the crime of raping a 35-year-old woman.
The court further ordered him to pay a fine of Rs. 100,000 rupees and Rs. 1,300 to be deposited in the relief fund for victims of criminal offenses.
The aggrieved party complained to Trikol police station on 15 March 2020 saying that the accused raped the victim on 14 March 2020 while when the victim was alone in her house.
The medical examination of the victim was done at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital Rajviraj on 17 March 2020. The District Police Office registered on 18 March 2020. The court issued a warrant against the absconding accused on 24 February 2021, when the police filed a charge sheet at the district court.
The accused who appeared in the District Court on 6 April 2022 has been incarcerated in Rajviraj Jail since the same day on the order of the court.
