Seven Injured in Clash over School Padlock

Seven people, including a policeman, were injured in a clash between the police and students who had gone to open a padlock demanding the appointment of Pawan Rai as a teacher. The school was closed for the past seven days.

The injured have been identified as Jay Kumar Rai, 16, Ram Shankar Kumar Rai Yadav, 18, Sikindra Kumar Sah, Nathuni Sah, 17, Ram Bishwas Kumar Jha, 16, Ram Bishwas Kumar Jha, 16,  and police constable Rajendra Kushwaha, 26,  Dipendra Acharya, 28. All the injured have sustained head injuries.

The injured have been taken to District Hospital, Malangwa for treatment, said DSP Madan Kunwar of the District Police Office.

Lalit Mandal, a 17-year-old student of Haripurwa Municipality-8, said that some students reached Haripurwa Municipality with slogans to open the lock when the school was completely closed.

Two policemen and five students were injured in a stone-pelting incident between the students and the police after the police charged batons to control the students while they were vandalizing sofas, chairs, computers, and printers in Haripurwa Municipality.

The vandalism at the Haripurwa Municipality office has damaged goods worth more than Rs 500,000, said Haripurwa Municipality, Chief Siyaram Rai.

According to Birendra Yadav, a local of Haripurwa Municipality-5, the students blocked the main road for an hour demanding action against police constable Binay Kumar Yadav, 26, for charging batons and freeing the school from the political arena.
