Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for the Crime of Rape
The District Court has sentenced 40-year-old Khet Bahadur Gharti from Hanspur, Malarani Municipality-8, to life imprisonment for the crime of raping a 37-year-old woman with a disability.
The bench of District Court Judge Shib Lal Pandey, on December 11, 2024, found the accused guilty and decided on life imprisonment, a fine of Rs 7 lakh , and an order for the payment of Rs 2,850 to the victim relief fund, as informed by the District Court’s Deputy Registrar, Ashok Bhandari
Aggrieved party filed a complaint at the district police office on 30 December 2023 stating that Gharti raped the victim on 30 May 2023. Gharti was arrested by the police on 31 December. The medical examination of the victim was done on 31 December at Arghakhanchi Hospital, Sandhikharka.
