Sentenced to 13 Years Imprisonment for the Crime of Rape
The District Court has sentenced 29-year-old Navraj, also known as Namraj Pokhrel, from Lamhi Municipality-1 to 13 years of imprisonment for the crime of raping an 18-year-old woman.
The bench of District Court Judge Lal Singh Thapa, on December 11, 2024, found the accused guilty and sentenced them to 13 years of imprisonment, a fine of Rs 5 lakh rupees, Rs 50 thousand as compensation, and an order to pay Rs 20 thousand to the victim relief fund, as informed by the court’s registrar, Damodar Ghimire.
Aggrieved party filed a complaint at the local police office, Tulsipur on August 27, stating that Pokhrel raped the victim on August 26, 2023. The medical examination of the victim was done on August 27 at Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur. The police arrested Pokhrel on August 27.
