Sentenced to 12 years, 9 months for Statutory Rape & Additional Charges

The District Court has sentenced 26-year-old Thakur Prasad Bhusal of Malarani Rural Municipality-7 to 12 years and nine months of imprisonment on January 2 for the crime of raping a 16-year-old girl.

Ramprasad Acharya, a Non Gazetted First Class Officer of the district court informed that the single bench of the honorable Judge Shrikrishna Jung Shah found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment for the crime rape, additional 6 months for causing abortion and 3 months imprisonment for parental violation. Furthermore, the Court also sentenced Ashish Acharya to 45 days imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for assisting the accused during abortion. 

The aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused on March 5, 2022 at the District Police Office alleging that the accused repeatedly raped the victim on January 3 and threatened her.

The Area Police Office of Khan arrested the accused on March 6 2022 and registered a case under sexual violence in the District Court on March 26, 2022, through the District Public Prosecutor’s Office. The District Court ordered the accused to be remanded in custody pending trial on March 27. 

The health examination of the victim was done on March 5, 2022 at Arghakhanchi Hospital, Sindhikharka.
