SC issues interim order not to implement re-polling in Bharatpur-19
The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued an interim order not to implement the decision of the Election Commission to conduct re-election in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19 quoting RSS source.
A single bench of Justice Choldendra Shumsher JBR issued the order not to implement the Commission’s decision to hold re-election in Ward No. 19 until June 11, SC’s Spokesperson Mahendra Upadhyay said.
The EC on Saturday had decided to hold the polls again in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19, after some ballot papers were torn and rendered useless in course of the counting.
The SC has also summoned the EC to hold discussions on the issue on June 11.
Member candidate under the open category of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19 Gunja Man BK and advocate Tulsiram Pandey on Sunday had filed a writ petition demanding to scrap the EC’s move to hold the poll again naming the Office of Chief Election Office Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chief Election Officer and others as defendants.
