The number of dengue patients in Hospitals of Gandaki Province has increased, with 524 cases reported. According to Dr Ramesh KC of the Health Directorate, a 48-year-old man from Tanahun died from dengue infection at a hospital in Pokhara on July 25.

Dr KC reported that there has been a rise in dengue cases over the past week. Among the 11 districts in Gandaki Province, Kaski has recorded the highest number of dengue patients. Dengue cases in Gandaki Province are as follows: Kaski has 212 patients, Tanahun 105, Baglung 65, and Lamjung 50. Myagdi has 36 cases, Gorkha and Syangja each have 27, Parbat has 8, Nawalpur 5, and Manang 1. No cases were reported in Mustang. This data is current up to July 29.

According to the Hospital Administration, the increase in dengue patients has led the OPD rooms tio be crowded. Most patients visit the hospital with symptoms such as diarrhea, cold, headache, and vomiting. Doctors report that the rise in dengue patients is due to extreme heat following recent rains. The Health Directorate of Gandaki Province has further stated that many patients at the hospital have developed dengue after experiencing a sudden onset of fever.

The Health Directorate has instructed to conduct special tests for complicated dengue cases. Doctors also warn that dengue cases may rise during the summer as mosquitoes breed in areas where rainwater collects.
