Respect the people’s Verdict: NHRC
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has drawn its attention through the press release regarding the tearing of ballot papers in Bharatpur Metropolitan city in Chitwan on May 28.
“Everyone must respect the people’s verdict and it must be respected by all. The process of voting and its counting must be trustworthy,” the statement release by the commission on June 1 says .
The commission said that it is the responsibilities of all political parties, candidate and their representatives to follow the election process by following the norms of Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948, ICCPR 1966 and Election Code of Conduct 2017.
The commission has already informed the election commission on June 1 to adopt all possible alertness so that such incident do not repeat in future. It has also demanded for the proper investigation of the incident by bringing the guilt under the legal boundaries,
