The residents of Chabispathibera Rural Municipality-1 area have to suffer because the water source that was swept away by the landslides in Paringal and Sugal could not be repaired. The locals faced difficulties after the landslide swept away the water source and the pipeline. According to local resident Lakshman Giri, 230 households are in distress due to the loss of the water source and pipeline. He mentioned that 230 households in Paringial and Sugal have been deprived of water supply since the landslide on September 15, which damaged the source and pipeline.

Residents who have relied on the Panalekhola water supply for years are now compelled to source their drinking water from the Seti River. Bramanandra Giri, Chairperson of the Panalekhola Water Supply Maintenance Committee, stated that a landslide had damaged the pipeline along with the water source, indicating that repairs will take additional time. He mentioned that the rainy season and the absence of an immediate budget will delay the repairs to the water sources and pipelines, leading to further challenges for residents in the coming days. The lack of drinking water is adversely affecting the health of the locals, who are forced to consume river water. Local resident Lakshman emphasized the urgent need for the concerned authorities to address the situation.

Local resident Saraswati Giri expressed her frustration, stating that the lack of drinking water has forced the community to consume the murky and dirty water from the Seti River. Ammarraj Thapa, health coordinator of Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality, reported that residents have begun experiencing health issues such as diarrhea and vomiting due to drinking contaminated water during the rainy season. According to Thapa, patients suffering from diarrhea have started visiting the health institution for treatment. Karanjung Bahadur Singh, Chairperson of Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality-1, stated that he is discussing the issue with the Rural Municipality regarding the maintenance of water sources and pipelines, as the ward’s budget is insufficient to cover these expenses. Basanta Chalaune, Chairperson of Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality, stated that as soon as the police scene report arrives in the Rural Municipality, they will provide drinking water pipes to the locals to resolve the issue. Chairperson Chalaune mentioned that if there is a delay in preparing the details and documents regarding the damage, locals have been advised to contact the Rural Municipality immediately to obtain the necessary pipes.
