Rape Accused Sentenced to 19 years Imprisonment
The Dailekh District Court sentenced Sibu Tamang, 26, a resident of Panchkhaal Municipality-6, Kavre District, to 19 years imprisonment on the charge of rape of a 13-year-old girl.
Information officer Nasu Tikaram Neupane informed that Judge Balram Lamsal’s bench on 27th March sentenced the victim to imprisonment and Rs. 1,00,000 as compensation and 22 rupees should be paid to the victim relief fund.
Tamang, a laborer on the road under construction at Madhyapahari highway, was arrested by the police at night on the basis of the information given by the victim that he had raped the girl on 30th March 2022 near his camp on the pretext of showing Tiktok on his mobile phone.
The health examination of the girl was done on 31st March 2022 at Dailekh Hospital. On the basis of the investigation report made by the police regarding the incident, the District Public Prosecutor’s Office Dailekh filed a rape charge in the Dailekh District Court on 19th April 2022.
After the custodial debate on the 22nd of January regarding the indictment, the bench of the then-District Judge Dandpani Lamichhane ordered the accused to be detained pending trial.
