Protesters Vandalize Government Vehicle, Two Arrested
Protestors affiliated with the Struggle Committee for establishing Shahid Dashrathchand National University of Health Sciences vandalized a government vehicle, No. 2301002 Jh 5192, operated by, Banke District Court and Su. 2301002 jh 5192, conducted by Sudupaschim Province Forest Directorate, on June 20, 2023, in Godavari Municipality-5 Attaria.
According to DSP Baral of Ela Police Office, Malakheti, police arrested, Deepak Bohra, 23, Godavari Municipality-5, and Bhesh Bohra, 31 of the same place, on June 20, for their involvement in the incident.
Lokraj Pandey, the coordinator of the struggle committee, said, they started protesting on May 30, 2023, after the federal government allocated a budget for the constriction of a 100 bedded hospital for the fiscal year 2023/2024 on May 29, 2023, despite the establishment of Shahid Dasharatchand National University of Health Sciences on February 12, 2023. He added that the government is mobilizing armed police and use of force during a peaceful protest.
The Struggled Committee closed the Attaria market, on June 21, for the arrest and use of force against the protestors. They said the protest will continue until the arrested persons are released and the Shahid Dashrath Chand National University of Health Sciences is operationalized.
