Protest and Vandalization Against Teachers Accused of Sexual Abuse
Students of Janata Secondary School of Faparbari in Bagmati Rural Municipality-8 have staged a protest and sabotaged the school on April 5, 2022, asking to take action against the three teachers accused of sexually abusing the students.
The students have accused the teachers named Rudra Bahadur BK, Hem Bahadur BK and Lok Bahadur BK of sexual abuse. According to the students, the accused teachers have sexually abused 15 students in Grade 9, 10 and 11 by touching them in a wrong way and also verbally harassing them in the classroom.
The students said that it is scary to sit on the edge of the bench in the classroom. The students had lodged a complaint with the school on March 28, 2022, claiming that the three teachers had been sexually abusing the students for the last one and half months.
A meeting was held at the school premises on April 5, 2022, to discuss the appeal. The students were outraged with the discussion that took place in the school and vandalized the school.
The Principal of the school, Basanta Rai stated that the vandalization caused the damaged worth NPR 1,500,000.
According to Inspector Kamal Lungeli of the Area Police Office, Faparbari, all the three teachers were the locals of the area and have been on leave for the past few days.
He said that no complaint has been lodged with the police and further investigation is underway for the incident.
