Prisoner Who Escaped in Custody Arrested Again
The prisoner who escaped by cutting his handcuffs while being taken to the Kathmandu District Court for an extension of his detention was arrested by the police in Lalitpur on September 23, 2024. Nareshraj Subedi, SP of the District Police Complex Lalitpur, reported that the arrested individual is 28-year-old Sanjiv Kumar Das, a resident of Lahan Municipality-4, Siraha. Sanjiv was found hiding in a house in Mahalakshmi Municipality-3.
The police have reported the arrest of 29-year-old Sajan Chaudhary, a resident of Mahalakshmishan, and Pankaj Chaudhary from Saptari, on charges of assisting Sanjiv Kumar Das in his escape and hiding him. SP Subedi stated that the three arrested individuals have been transferred to the Kathmandu Police Range, emphasizing that the incident involving the escaped prisoner will be taken seriously.
