Prison facing crisis of drinking water

The District Prison of Syangja is facing difficulties on clean drinking water due to the lack of enough water tank. The prison has a capacity to accommodate 50 inmates and detainees however there are 124 inmates and detainees at present. They are facing difficulties on collecting water due to the lack of enough tank.

Acting prison chief Buddhi Prasad Sharma said that due to the difficulties on collecting water, prisoners are facing crisis of clean drinking water. He added that due to the overcrowding inmates and detainees, the water consumption is high but there is lack of water.

Inmate Krishnakhar Sharma who is doing his jail term from the last seven years said that they are facing crisis of water from a long time. He added that there is library however not enough books and rooms are very congested.

Mayor Seema Chetri of Putalibazar municipality has committed that she will take further step to address the issues of inmates and detainees.
