Police informed that Santosh Sah,26 of Khadak Municipality-5, Khojpur, was arrested on September 26 and placed in police custody on charges of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old girl.

The accused was arrested seven months after the incident and is currently detained at Rajbiraj awaiting trial under the jurisdiction of the Honorable Judge Harka Bahadur Kshetri at the District Court.

The victim lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office Kadarbona on April 3 alleging that she had been raped by the accused on March 24. She also mentioned that 28-year-old Birjun Shah, originally from Karjanha Municipality-4 Badharamal in Siraha who is currently residing in Khadak Municipality-5 Khojpur, had assisted the accused.

According to the victim, while she was returning home in the evening after selling vegetables, Birju in pretext to repair her bicycle locked her in a room in his house in Khadak Municipality-5 Kharachuhiya. Afterwards, she was subjected to sexual assault by Santosh Shah.

The health examination of the victim was done at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital on April 3.

Police arrested Birju on April 3 from his home. The bench of Honorable Judge Shyam Bihari Maurya,the District Court granted bail to Birjun on April 28, setting the bail amount at Rs 100000 after the charge sheet was filed in the District Court on April 27.

Arrest warrants against the absconding accused Santosh, were issued on April 3 and April 23.
