Police Station Pelted with Stones, Thirteen Rounds of Air, and Eight Rounds of Tear Gas Fired in Response

While controlling the tense situation in Rupani rural municipality-1 Rupani, the police fired tear gas and aerial fire on December 20, 2022.

DSP Nareshukmar Singh informed that after a girl’s death in a road accident, angry students and parents blocked the road at Rupani rural municipality-1 and pelted stones at the local police station, to the response of which eight rounds of tear gas and 13 aerial rounds of shotgun were fired. According to Singh, 10 policemen, including Inspector Nabin Thapa Magar and Pramod Khadka, were slightly injured as the tipper was hit by the stone pelting of the protestors, and all the windows of the local police station were broken.

12-year-old Rita Kumari Yadav, resident of rupani rural municipality 1, a class 6 student of Kanchu Narpratap Secondary School, Raipur, died on the spot after being hit by a tipper number 1 Ka 8542 while going on her bicycle.

After keeping the girl’s body on the road, the local residents and students staged a demonstration on the road, which caused the road blockage from 9:30 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon. Hundreds of vehicles traveling on the East-West highway were stopped due to the six hour long road blockade, and thousands of passengers faced problems.
