Police Firing Leaves Two Individuals Injured

Shakti Kumar Paswan, aged 35, and Ajay Paswan, aged 32, residents of Lalbandi Municipality-2 in Sarlahi, were arrested on charges related to a robbery on November 15. During their attempted escape the police fired them.

The accused were implicated in robbery cases in Jaleshwar Municipality-8 Ratwara, Mahottari Rural Municipality-3 Damhi, as well as multiple districts in Mahottari and various locations in India. On November 14, the District Police Office Mahottari, in collaboration with Rautahat District Police, successfully arrested the suspects who were found hiding near the water tank in Garuda Municipality-4, Rautahat.

DSP Dilip Kumar Giri of the District Police Office Mahottari reported that an attempt by the accused to escape took place during the handover process from Sarlahi police to Mahottari police. This incident resulted in the accused sustaining injuries as a consequence of police firing. In addition, Assistant Constable Sanjay Jaiswal and Police Constable Shyam Kishor Giri, were also injured.

DSP Giri stated that the accused are notorious gangsters with a history of evading authorities, and cases have been registered against them both in Nepal and India. He said that their involvement was also seen in the recent robbery incidents in different places of Mahottari. The injured are being treated at the provincial hospital.

SP Prakash Malla of District Police Office, Mahottari said that others could involved in the robbery as well. The police have seized one pistol and four bullets from the apprehended suspects.
