Police Assault Journalists While Collecting News
Indra Prasad Poudel, a reporter for Kantipur, and Rajkumar Majhi of Public 4k Television were assaulted by the police while collecting news on a protest held by the activists and supporters of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party in Pokhara on 5 november . Journalist Poudel, who was one of the victims, has reported the incident. The Nepal Press Union Kaski has issued a statement condemning the assault. Both journalists sustained minor injuries but returned to their routine after receiving basic treatment.
In the cooperative fraud case, Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president, former Home Minister, and Member of Parliament Rabi Lamichhane was arrested in Kathmandu on 18 October and brought to Pokhara. Following his arrest, RSP activists have been staging protests in Pokhara. On 5 November, the protesters even broke through the restricted area at Waichok.
District Court Kaski on 5 november extended the remand of Rabi Lamichhane for 10 more days, allowing the police to keep him in custody for further investigation.
