People’s Representative Submitted Memorandum Against Abuses of Transportation Committee
The people’s representatives submitted a memorandum to the District Administration Office on May 12 against the abuse by the transportation committee in Pilichaur of Bajura, Karnali corridor.
The memorandum has been submitted to 15 offices including the Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of Chairman Bijay Bhandari of Simkot Rural Municipality through the District Ddministration Office, Humla.
Bijay Bhandari, Chairperson of Simkot Rural Municipality, stated that a memorandum was submitted against the Transport Service Committee. This was because the Swamikartik, Badimalika, Visit Karnali, Mansarovar, etc travels have been forcefully making the passengers including patients, employees, students, and businessmen leaving Humla, Mugu, and those entering the district from Nepalgunj and Surkhet travel by their buses on the Sarkegadh road from surkhet to Pilichaur of Bajura. In addition, for not allowing other vehicles from Sarkegad to enter, practice threatening and charge higher fares.
The distance from Surkhet to Pilichour via Bajura is 136 km. Chairperson Karna Rawal of Kharpunath Rural Municipality explained that the memorandum was submitted because despite the bus rent being Rs 3,000, they were charging high prices of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000. Chairperson Bhandari of Simkot Rural Municipality emphasized that the transportation companies involved in such abuse practices should be shut down. Additionally, action should be taken against various transport operators in Nepalgunj, Surkhet, Bajura, Pilichaur, and Humla Sarkegad Rural Municipality.
Similarly, Ram Bahadur Bhandari, District Chairperson of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry said that the transport committees operated under different names should be shut down.
Likewise, Rajan Rawat, District Chairperson of the Federation of Journalists said that the transport committee has caused a lot of trouble to the passengers in the name of fare.
Assistant Chief District Officer Amrit Prasad Subedi assured that the memorandum will be sent to the relevant authorities and requested for its implementation soon.
