People’s Representative Arrested for Falsifying Document
The police arrested Ward Chairperson Suryanarayan Yadav of Dewanganj Rural Municipality-7 on September 11 for charges of falsifying records, including recommending a deceased person as alive and a living person as deceased. District Police Office DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari explained that the Ward Chairperson was arrested for re-certifying a fake death certificate. This certificate was created after Ram Yadav submitted false information at the office of the then Rajganj Sinuwaari Village Development Committee (VDC). Based on this false information, the concerned registration officer issued the death certificate, which was later submitted to the Sunsari District Court. According to the police, during the arrest at the Ward Office of Dewanganj Rural Municipality-7 for offenses related to the National Identity Card and Registration Act, Ward Chairperson Suryanarayan Yadav had issued a false statement declaring that Ram Yadav, son of Sitaram Yadav of Dewanganj Rural Municipality-7, had died.
DSP Bhandari stated that the same false information was sent to various offices, including the court, to reduce the potential 10-year imprisonment for Ramanand Yadav, also known as Ram. In response to Yadav’s arrest, which they allege was due to political revenge, the Devanaganj Rural Municipality Executive Committee members and Ward Chairpersons have announced the closure of the Rural Municipality and ward offices for an indefinite period until Yadav is released.
Anil Kumar Bhagat, Acting Chairperson of the Rural Municipality, announced at a press conference that the closure of the Rural Municipality and ward offices for an indefinite period was due to the belief that Ward Chairperson Yadav’s arrest was politically motivated. He stated that the offices would remain closed until Chairperson Yadav is released unconditionally.
