The lack of specialist doctors at the Dadeldhura Hospital has halted the operation of dialysis services causing difficulties for patients. The hospital procured equipment for kidney disease patients two years ago, but it remains unused.

Kidney disease patient Rajendra Bikram Bhandari expressed concerns about having to travel to Dhangadhi for dialysis due to the unavailability of the service at Dadeldhura Hospital. He said that the dialysis equipment remains unused at the hospital and patients have to go to Dhangadhi for dialysis. Traveling back and forth every month incurs a lot of expenses. Similarly, another kidney disease patient, Aman Seti, expressed his frustration, stating that despite the government’s provision of free dialysis for kidney patients, they have been deprived of the service. He accused Dadeldhura Hospital of denying them their right to live by not bringing in a specialist doctor. He said, “They just say there is a lack of human resources, but no one takes the initiative to find a solution. Who will understand our problems?”

Karunakar Ojha, the Chairperson of the hospital development committee, stated that dialysis services will be operational soon. According to him, preparations have begun to start the service in the hospital’s new building. He mentioned that although the necessary equipment for dialysis was installed in the hospital two years ago, the service could not be operated due to a lack of skilled personnel. He also stated that efforts are being made to coordinate with the relevant authorities to fill the position of a specialist doctor.
