Parsa border sealed for 72 hours from today

Nepal-India border has been closed for 72 hours since this morning keeping in mind the security situation for local level elections to be held in Province-2 on September 18.

According to the District Police Office, Parsa, the movement of vehicles apart from that of most essential service has been barred while mobility of pedestrians excluding vehicles from Nepal to India and vice-versa has been only allowed with high security screening.
According to Superintendant of Police (SP) at Parsa district Sudip Giri, the movement of ambulance and petroleum tankers and rail and containers from India to dry port based in Alau has been permitted.
Likewise, high security alert has been adopted in Inarwa, Pagena, Balrampur, Bhelai, Sikata, and Narkatiyagunj of Parsa, Adapur, Ghodasahan and Chhoradaniof Bara along the Nepal-India border.
Earlier, a joint Nepal-India security meeting held at Birgunj some days ago had decided to keep high security alert in the bordering areas to conduct the local elections in Province-2 in a peaceful manner.
Indian security officials said that they have maintained high security alert on the border from their end in view of the local elections in Nepal.
