Prime Minister Oli Loses Vote of Confidence in the Parliament
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli lost a vote of confidence in the government he had tabled as per Article 100 (1) of the constitution.
Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had announced that the vote of confidence was not approved after only 93 out of 232 lawmakers present in the House of Representatives voted in the favor of the motion.
Out of the 271 MPs, 232 were present and 124 votes were cast against the confidence motion. Fifteen MPs were neutral.
Arrangements were made for Covid-infected MPs to cast their ballots at a different location of the parliament.
Speaking in Parliament before the vote, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the survival of the people was the first priority of the Government in the pandemic.
