Overcrowded Prison in Baitadi
The prison of Bitadi is facing difficulties due to over crowd of prisoners and detainees. They are facing more difficulties due to a leaking roof in a rainy season.
The prison has a capacity to accommodate 25 prisoners and detainees however there are 44 prisoners and detainees. In two rooms, there are overcrowded prisoners and detainees creating problem of sleeping, eating, going to toilet according to prison chief Anil Kumar Tiwari. There are only male prisoners and detainees in the prison according to him.
The prison building is in critical state and there is a risk of collapsing of building in even a small tremor from earthquake, he said.
There are no facility of library and sports inside the prison which is making difficult for prisoner to spend their time.
