Over 25 Cases of Human Rights Violations and Abuses Reported Daily
The Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) has reported statistics that every day more than 25 people are victims of human rights violations and abuses in Nepal.
According to the Nepal Human Rights Yearbook 2024 published by INSEC on February 19 more than 25 people are victims of human rights violations and abuse in Nepal every day. The book includes data on human rights violations and abuses of 2023.
The statistics show that a total of 9,388 people were the victims of human rights violations and abuses in 2023. It means 25.72% of people have been the victims every day.
According to INSEC, 6 people have been killed by the state and 317 by non-state in this one year.
Bagmati Province had the highest number of victims, totaling 2,274. The data reveals that on average more than 6 individuals in Bagmati Province become victims daily.
According to the Nepal Human Rights Yearbook 2024, the highest number of victims, 1,440, was recorded in December 2023. INSEC reported an average of 46 victims of human rights violations and abuses daily during December.
