One Year Sentence To Bigamous
The District Court of Saptari has ordered to sentence Raj Kumar Ray,26 of Barahipur VDC-8 for one year on September 2 on charge of polygamy. He was also penalised of Rs 5,000.
A single bench of District Court judge Mahendra Prasad Pokhrel has given a verdict regarding the case however another accused Subu Kumari rai has been acquitted by the court.
The victim was displaced at her parental home after the accused had married a second wife on February 17. She had lodged a complaint against both at Area police office on March 15.
The accused was arrested by the police on March 16 based on the complaint lodged by the victim.
They were married as per Hindu culture in 2010 February 19. Prior to this, the accused was remanded in custody on April 7.
