One of Two Fugitives Escaped from Lamjung District Jail Arrested
The police arrested one of the two prisoners who escaped from Lamjung District Jail on the night of June 1, 2023.
Jailer Kamalapati Adhikari of District Jail Lamjung informed two prisoners escaped on the night of June 1. They took advantage of the period of shift change of the security guards.
According to the jailor, the escaped inmates were Binod B.K, 27, Lamjung, Madhya Nepal Municipality – 4and Chandra Bahadur Gurung, 37, permanent residence Gorkha Chumnuvri Rural Municipality-3, Ghattekhol.
Binod was remanded to judicial custody for rape on August 9, 2022 Gurung was remanded to judicial custody on May 14, 2023.
According to the District Police Office team led by DSP Prakash Shrimal succeeded in arresting Vinod B.K. from Chisapani Danda, Besishahar Municipality-2, on the same day, the search for Gurung is ongoing.
Jagdish Regmi, the Information Officer of the District Police Office, said that the occurrence of such incidents in areas under the complete security perimeter of the police casts doubt on the accountability and efficiency of the police. The prison building is dilapidated, and there is no proper fencing around the vicinity.
