One Arrested on the Charge of Involvement in Motipur Incident
Police have arrested Sabir Ali, 44, of Sudhhodhan Rural Municipality-6, Kapilbastu, on October 19, 2021, on the charge of being involved in the Motipur incident. Police have claimed that he was the mastermind behind the incident.
According to DSP Satya Narayan Thapa of the District Police Office, the accused has been involved in ‘capturing’ the Industrial Area of Butwal Submetropolitan-17, Motipur. He is also accused of persuading and provoking, forming groups, forming and chairing the committee, and making banners.
A case has been filed against the accused under the National Criminal Code, 2017 (2074) for crime against public peace and he has been remanded in custody for 10 days for further investigation and the search for other persons involved in the incident is underway.
Police said that they recovered three banners, a copy of the minuting, 13 documents with the contact number of the team and two receipts for assistance for settlement development.
Four people were killed in a clash between security personnel and people who had come to occupy land in Motipur Industrial Area on October 24.
Attempts are being made to occupy land in the name of squatters from various places in the industrial area, which has been in dispute since the foundation stone was laid.
