No immunity to the person involved in a serious crime: TRC Member Bhatta
Member Dr Madhabi Bhatta of TRC said that no immunity will be given to the people who are involved in a crime which is of serious in nature such as murder, rape and sexual abuse.
Bhatta said that incidents of serious nature cannot be given immunity while speaking at the program in Birendranagar during the establishment of TRC provincial level office.
Bhatta said that those victims who were raped and sexually abused during the conflict era will definitely get justice. She added that the commission will recommend for the action against the accused as per the law whatever be the pressure.
The conflict victims are hopeful that they will get the justice after the commission established the office in local level. Conflict victim Pratap Paudel demanded that complain must be investigated in participation of conflict victims. Another conflict victim Nanda Shrestha said that it is appreciable to open TRC office in Birendranagar and further demanded the commission to find the fact.
Under province number 6, the office under the commission has been established with the objective of investigating more than 10,000 complaints.
The office under the commission is preparing to investigate 1000 complaints for the first phase for which the staffs have been mobilized. The commission has appointed Dharmananda Nath as an investigation officer. He is an assistant attorney general. Another two legal entrepreneurs Bibas Basnet and Kaushila Yogi will be investigating the complaint along with him. Member Bhatta requested the victim not to be disappointed as the commission is committed to provide justice to the victim by ending the transitional cases.
