Nineteen Years Imprisonment for the Crime of Rape
The bench of the District Court Judge Gita Shrestha on February 22 sentenced 19 years imprisonment and a fine of Rss.700000 to 29-year-old Rabi Dhungana of Galchi Rural Municipality-6 to for the crime of raping an 11-year-old girl. Registrar Madhav Bhandari of the district court informed that a compensation of Rs 300000 to the victim was imposed. Additionally, 27-year-old Rabina Bhujel was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and fined Rs 80,000 for helping her husband in the rape case.
The victim filed a complaint at the Area police office on December 12 alleging that Dhungana had raped her several times and the last time was on November 20.
The health examination of the victim was done on December 13 at Dhading Hospital. Dhungana was arrested on December 13.
