NHRC Urges to Implement International Labour Treaty-169
National Human Rights Commission has urged and drawn the attention of the government to accept and immediately implement National Work Plan Bill regarding ILO-169.
Nepal had ratified ILO-169 in 2007 September 14. The Human Rights of indigenous community could not be protected and promoted because of not accepting its work plan draft since decade.
The commission’s spokesperson and member Mohana Ansari said that NHRC has been raising this issue since long period.
Chairperson Anup Raj Sharma of NHRC said that some parts of the work plan have been implemented however it is sad that the draft has been dumped in ministry cabinet.
He further stressed that there should be implementation of constitution, mentality of implementing law and right to get education on mother tongue.
