Nepali Citizenship Delivered to Residence of Individuals with Disability
Bhavindra Pun, a resident with physical disability of Annapurna Rural Municipality-8, Ramche, was handed over the certificate of Nepalese citizenship by Assistant Chief District Officer of District Administration Office Myagdi, Pratigana Subedi, at his home on May 27, 2023.
Bhavindra Pun, who was born as the second child, on August 1, 1982, as he grew up it was revealed that his legs could not function properly. Bhavindra’s mother Sarankumari Pun says that with time, his speech was blurred and he could not walk. It was very difficult to put a fingerprint on the certificate of citizenship.
Banika Garbuja Pun, Secretary of Annapurna-8, said that although Pun was supposed to get social security allowance based on an ‘A’ class disability identity card, it is not possible to provide the allowance without citizenship.
She said that Nepali citizenship is required to receive social security allowance as well as to receive other services.
With the special initiative of Raman Pun, the headmaster of Himachal Secondary School, Ramche, and the coordination and cooperation of the ward office, the administration team delivered citizenship certificates to the residents of individuals with disabilities.
Kham Bahadur Garbuja Pun, the ward chairperson of Annapurna Rural Municipality-8, said that he was excited about the initiative.
Dhirendraraj Pant, Information Officer of the District Administration Office, Myagdi, said that Assistant Chief District Officer Subedi completed the necessary process and delivered the citizenship.
