National Human Rights Commission Monitored Condition of Injured Children from Panchthar Explosion

A high-level team led by National Human Rights Commission Chairperson Tapa Bahadur Magar has monitored the treatment and health conditions of the children injured in the explosion that occurred on August 29 in Dandagaon, Phalelung Rural Municipality-5, Panchthar. The Human Rights Commission monitored the health condition of the injured at the Nepal Cleft & Burn Center in Kirtipur, meeting with the parents, doctors, and the Executive Director of the Hospital. Additionally, the Commission issued a press release on September 9 stating that, according to the doctors, the health condition of the injured children is improving. Furthermore, the monitoring reported that there is a lack of financial resources, specialist manpower, and equipment in the hospitals where burns are treated.

Dr. Lily Thapa, Commission member; Murari Prasad Kharel, Commission Secretary; and Mayadevi Sharma, Chief of the International Treaty Monitoring Division, participated in the monitoring. The Commission has also requested arrangements for the victim’s family’s livelihood and the provision of necessary equipment and specialist services in hospitals treating burn injuries.
