Murdered on charge of not bringing enough Dowry
An FIR has been lodged by the victim’s family of 18 years old Meena Devi Das alias Minta of Chereshwor Municipality-10 against her 25 years old husband Kamalu Das, 55 years old father-in-law Siriya Das, mother-in-law and a neighbor Sarita Das at DPO on charge of strangulating her for not bringing enough dowry. The body of the victim was taken for postmortem in Janakpur zonal hospital however the body was handed over by the hospital without postmortem.
The victim’s family protested after her body was about to be cremated without doing postmortem. The human rights activists were also informed about the incident and the victim’s party accused hospital of not conducting the postmortem and attempting to conceal the truth. The postmortem was conducted after the pressure from the family and human rights activists.
