Monitoring of Supply, Storage and Distribution of COVID-19 Vaccines in Mahottari
A team of Consultation and Monitoring Committee of Province 2 formed by the National Human Rights Commission has monitored the supply, storage, and distribution of the vaccines on July 25, 2021.
A team consisting of Raju Paswan, Coordinator of Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Province 2, Manmaya Rana Magar, Kiran Paswan, Chairperson of National Federation of the Disabled, Province 2, Rajiv Karna, Officer of National Human Rights Commission and Ajay Kumar Sah, INSEC Mahottari District Representative. The team reached the District Public Health Office, Mahottari, and monitored the supply, storage, and distribution of vaccines against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief District Officer of Mahottari, Upendra Neupane, informed that the second dose of the Covishield vaccine has not been received. According to him, 25/26 thousand people are deprived of the second dose of the vaccine. Neupane informed that at present people in the age group 50 to 54 along with the people with disabilities are being vaccinated with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
He further added that the people belonging to the A and B category of disability will be vaccinated. Eighty-one vaccination centres have been managed in the district. Neupane said that there is a program to vaccinate the senior citizens in Mahottari based on their citizenship and the vaccines have been stored after managing appropriate temperature.
Laxmeshwor Jha, vaccination officer of the District Public Health Office, Mahottari, said that from 7,000 vile of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, 35,000 people will be vaccinated.
He informed that the vaccination program is scheduled to be held in Mahottari on July 29 and 30, and cold storage of 700 liters has been managed to store the vaccines.
Neupane also said that it was necessary to aware the people of the rural areas about the importance of vaccination. The team also visited the cold store at Mujeliya in Janakpurdham of Dhanusha.
