Ministers allowed to attend party program on their private vehicle
Government ministers are now allowed to attend the programs organised by their respective political parties. However, they will not be allowed to do so, using government vehicles according to RSS.
The meeting of the Election Commission on Wednesday decided to ease the rule that earlier limited the ministers to the district headquarters only. They can now use a private vehicle to go beyond the district headquarters. The decision was taken in order to facilitate the political atmosphere for the May 14 local elections, according to EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma.
The EC today however decided that the Ministers will not be allowed to attend any political program after the candidates receive their election symbol for the purpose of elections. As per the election schedule, candidates are required to file their candidacy on coming April 29. The election symbols will be granted on May 2.
