Minister of Congress Attacked by Knife

On September 6, Mahendra Yadav, Joint General Minister of Nepali Congress and former Member of Parliament, was subjected to a knife attack at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. SP Kumod Dhungel conveyed that Mr. Yadav was assaulted by a 47-year-old individual named Shyam Sapkota, of Bidur Municipality-7 in Nuwakot. This incident occurred as Mr. Yadav was departing from a program hosted at the Reports’ Club situated in Bhrikutimandap.

SP Dhungel further reported that Sapkota, the assailant, was apprehended at the scene of the attack. Subsequently, Sapkota was detained at the police circle in Singha Darbar, and an investigation into the incident was promptly initiated.

Yadav, who sustained severe injuries from the knife attack, was swiftly rescued by the police and transported to the National Trauma Center for medical treatment. Dr. Badri Rizal, the Head of the National Trauma Center, revealed that Mr. Yadav underwent surgery to address the substantial injuries to his head and neck. As of the latest update, Mr. Yadav’s health condition is stable, and he is presently receiving care in the ICU under the supervision of medical professionals.
