Memorandum Handed over to the Prime Minister
A memorandum has been handed over to the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba by a team of Human Rights activists and intellectuals on June 18. The team met the prime minister in Singha Darbar and handed over the memorandum containing Terai-Madhes situation. The memorandum also contains the reason behind the problem, effect of conflict and its solution.
Campaigners of CCCE, INSEC chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel, senior intellectual Dr Rajesh Ahiraj, HURON chairperson Indra Prasad Aryal including a dozen of activists met Prime Minister and presented the memorandum which includes pre-election observations from Dadeldhura, Kanchanpur to Sunsari-Morang.
The memorandum states that in Terai-Madhes, the community distance is expediting and people have no faith on government and there is anger against the major political parties. The society is looking for leadership from new generation and there are fear prevailing in communities, the memorandum states. The memorandum also highlighted the reasons behind this situation along with the effect of decade long armed conflict and solutions.
The memorandum was signed by INSEC chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel and HURON chairperson Indra Prasad Aryal.
