Medicine Crunch in Eastern Parts of Surkhet

The shortage of medicine has hit Gurbhakot and Bheriganga Municipality and Simta Rural Municipality of Surkhet district. There is a shortage of normal medicine for even diarrhea and fever in the health posts of Malarani Rural Municipality (RM) and Gurbhakot-2 according to in charge Yudda Bahadur Thapa of health post.

According to Thapa, there is a shortage of Jeevan Jal in all health posts of eastern part of Surkhet in rainy season.  He added that there is confusion on who should be responsible, either District Public Health, Rural Municipality or Municipality, on providing medicine to the health posts especially after the change in structure.

Similarly, along with the change in weather, the patients of Typhoid is increasing and they had to returned back from the health post due to the lack of medicine according to health in charge Netra Lal Khatri of Community Health Center of Gurbhakot-9.

While asking about the issue, chief Shambhu Gyawali of District Public Health, Surkhet said that coordination with city and Rural Municipality is being made for the immediate supply of medicine.
