Maoist Cadre; Injured Due to Shoot Out, Dies Undergoing Treatment
Deepak Pandey, 34, of Kapilbastu Municipality-1, a district member of the CPN-Maoist, died at the Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu on May 24, 2021.
Pandey was airlifted to Kathmandu Teaching Hospital on May 24 after treatment at Bhairahawa Medical College was not possible. According to SP Nawaraj Adhikari of District Police Office, Kapilbastu, Pandey died while undergoing treatment.
A group of three including two Indian nationals Ayaz and Mohammad Irsad Khan shot Pandey dead in Kapilbastu Municipality-9, on the night of May 19 while returning to Toulihawa on a motorcycle from Jarlaiya Naka. Pandey and 26-year-old Indian national Ayaz Akhtar Musalman were injured in the shooting.
According to SP Nawaraj Adhikari of the District Police Office, Om Prakash Yadav, 39, of Kapilvastu Municipality-1, Anandawag and Sakir Ali, 33, of the same Municipality-2 have been arrested from Toulihawa on May 21 on the charge of involvement in the incident.
