Locals Suffering Due to Lack of Regular Water Supply

With the onset of dry season, residents of Sunchahari Rural Municipality-4, Ghoga of Rolpa are suffering due to lack of regular drinking water.

Regular water is interrupted in the village with around 25 households despite having three water taps.

Local Ran Bahadur Pariyar informed that although they do not experience water shortage on rainy season, the water source often go dry and small during the winter.

Ramsar Gharti, a local, said that he had to walk for an hour to fetch water due to the shortage of water in the tap.

Locals informed that they are facing trouble even to bath and wash due to lack of regular water in the stream.

Similarly, problem in drinking water supply was seen in Sunchahari rural municipality-4, Jhinja as well. Jit Bahadur Bik, a local, stated that water flows only from 6 to 8am in the morning and 5 to 7pm in the evening in the village with around 100 households.

Bik says that the villagers have to stay in a long queue since water flows only at designated times. The lack of water is causing difficulty for villagers to cultivate vegetables and fruits

Harkaram Budha, Ward Chairperson of Sunchahari Rural Municipality-4, informed Province government has designated a drinking water plan in both the villages but the work is not progressing accordingly.
